I got swamped with work after my post on Monday. I was actually up until after midnight almost every night this week working on assignments for the office. Then, early this morning, Cat and I caught a flight up to San Jose so we could meet with our friends at Margaret's French Bakery for a cake tasting and to finalize our wedding cake arrangements. I'm very excited with what we came up with. I can't wait to show you pictures of our cakes after our wedding.
To give you an idea of what Margaret and her son Joey, aka The Oni are capable of, here are a few pictures of recent cakes they've made.

Everything is edible! The ribbons are made of fondant!

Margaret loves using fresh flowers in her cakes. I think they really add to the presentation. The bunting effect on the cakes is achieved using fondant again.

The Oni heading out to make a delivery. Doesn't he look like a sexy baking stud muffin in his chef whites?
See more of Margaret's cakes on their LiveJournal, the Cake Blog. For the sake of full disclosure, I should mention that The Oni and I have been friends for over 13 years, and I worked at Margaret's bakery when I was in high school.
Cat and I are going to take it easy tomorrow and fly back on Monday. I'll try to resume my regular posting schedule then, with more dim sum, SoCal, and NorCal reviews. I've also got some more recipes to post. The next two months are going to be tough at the office, though, so I might be a bit more erratic than I'd like.

Tigerfish,
The wedding is in July, so you'll have to wait. But I'll make sure we get some nice cake pictures taken.
